Record Launch Party
Saturday November 7th sees the monthly Spacemachine party return for a special launch party of Spacemachine Recordings and in celebration of the first EP release by Johnny Chingas and Pete Herbert, out in all good record shops later this month.
For the occasion the boys have invited the Glimmers to join them in their quest for a good time, and love for good genre-crossing music, whether it is called new wave, post punk, disco, cosmic, psych funk, balearic or house music. The Glimmers otherwise known as Mo and Benoelie, originally inspired by EBM and Belgian New Beat, have been Djing for over 20 years now. Their best know compilations include Serie Noir: Dark Pop and New Beat, DJ Kicks & Fabric Live 31. Remix-wise the Glimmers have covered everyone from New Order via Grace Jones to Roxy music and the Chemical Brothers.
The party will be held at the revamped Sosho bar/club in Shoreditch, where they have a Funktion One and a 6am licence and seriously make the best Pisco Sours in East London.
Tropical Spacemchine Radio & Spacemachine Party
Spacemachine is the party spin off the Tropical Spacemachine Radio show produced and presented by Johnny, which is running in its second year now on London based internet radio station www.deepfrequency.com.
Johnny shows have gained some attention within the disco scene, partly because of the artist interviews (Rahaan, Phoreski, Padded Cell, Trojan Soundsystem, Inflagranti, Lovefingers etc), but also because many of the mixes, which represent a more experimental, leftfield and collector’s take on vintage and contemporary dance music were well received by listeners.
Spacemachine Recordings, EP 001
The ethos of the Tropical Spacemachine radio show ..‘any style is welcome, especially if it has it has a tropical feel to it’ also applies to Pete & J’s first outing featuring reworks of two classic tracks…
The A side kicking things off in true carnival party style, beefing things up and spacing out a well known classic from one of the UK’s best known disco outfits…Whilst the flip side heads straight for some heavy afro-voodoo disco business….
Both tracks are aimed straight at the dancefloor and have already been going down a storm at the Sancho Panza Notting Hill Carnival stage and on the Glimmers recent tour of Australia…
