The 32-year-old singer originally from Atlanta, Georgia, has always been a favorite character for all tabloids thanks to his rich love life, including glamorous ladies both from the music and movie scene. But his latest “performances” have nothing to do with music or love.
He was recently involved in an accident with the rising comedian Kumail Nanjiani. Ninjiani was in the middle of his Get off Your Knees showcase in New York when John Mayer interrupted him with insulting remarks. While Kumail Nanjiani never said a bad word about Mayer, the singer was labeled as an “accidental racist” by another comedian.
John Mayer expressed his regrets for ruining Kumail’s show. Mayer was supposed to do a stand-up act in the place of another comedian who didn’t show up but not only he ate of Ninjiani’s time but also interrupted his showcase with insults.
Currently John Mayer tour is going on to promote his last release, “Battle Studies.” “Battle Studies” is looking on relationships as a battle field and most of its songs carry titles like “Heartbreak Warfare,” “War of my Life,” “Crossroads,” and “Assassin.” The images of an angry ex-girlfriend compared with an assassin and atmosphere full of “bombs dropping everywhere” are familiar to many of us who have dealt with broken relationships.
Battle Studies is Mayer’s fourth studio album, following Room for Squares (2001), Heavier Things (2003) and Continuum (2006). The album is out under Columbia Records and consists of 11 tracks featuring Pino Palladino, Ian McLagan, and Taylor Swift.
The blues thread that became typical for his style after his 2006 album, Continuum, is most vivid in the ballad "Crossroads." One of the most awaited songs was the duet Mayer sings with this year’s country queen, Taylor Swift. But fans were slightly disappointed by the duet "Half of My Heart" complaining Mayor has diminished Swift’s role to a backing vocal.
John Mayer’s name was also mentioned among the musicians who have been an inspiration for Nick Jonas’ first solo project, Nick Jonas and the Administration. Mayer was one of the musicians whose influence Jonas claims to have formed his style, along with Prince, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Elvis Costello, and Johnny Cash.
